How would you like to get a haircut, a new cell phone, and delicious tacos at the same event? With the passage of our model legislation, that scenario now has the freedom to become a reality.
The Libertas Utah team innovated a policy reform that was sorely needed for small business owners with mobile businesses, such as barber shops, cell phone repair companies, beauty shops, shoe shops, pet groomers, tailors, and more—all of whom operate out of trucks they drive around town.
Across the country, these mobile business owners face significant regulatory barriers at the local level. As they operate in multiple locations and cities, they have to apply and pay for multiple permits, pass any required inspections, and navigate multiple regulatory processes unlike traditional brick-and-mortar or online establishments.
Under our law, mobile business owners no longer have to deal with a number of headaches. For example, once a mobile business has received their business license and any necessary inspections from one jurisdiction, they do not have to obtain new licenses for every city they wish to operate in. This dramatically cuts down on the time, money, and energy being spent by these startup entrepreneurs.
Our national team at Libertas Institute is now scaling this policy across the country, to help thousands of business owners have a better shot at success by removing the regulatory barriers standing in their path.
