With the generous support of several donors, we recently created and published a new market-centric curriculum for kids participating in our Children’s Entrepreneur Market project.
Our markets use real money and real products—producing far superior experiences to simply learning about business in a textbook. That’s why our curriculum is centered around the market experience.
For example, the first several units focus on the essential steps to having a successful business experience:
- What is entrepreneurship?
- Goods vs. services
- Sell what people need and want
- Building a business plan
- Managing money
- Buy low, sell high
- Making your business stand out
- …and more
After the preparatory exercises and projects, our young entrepreneurs are encouraged to launch their business! This can be at one of our markets, on their driveway, online, at a farmer’s market, etc. The important thing is to take action and put into practice the ideas they’ve learned in the curriculum.
From there, our post-market content in the curriculum helps kids learn from their experience. How might they improve for next time? How do they figure out what money they can spend vs. what they should reinvest in growing their business?
We provide this curriculum at no cost to families who sign up for one of our markets; others who would like to access it can purchase it here.
