Development Associate

Libertas Institute is seeking an organized person to help increase the efficiency of our development (fundraising) team.

Libertas Institute is an award-winning think tank in Utah with an 85% track record seeing its recommendations become law. We are exporting our policy victories to other states, and operate projects such as the acclaimed Tuttle Twins children’s books that are read by millions of people throughout the world.

This is a part-time position for someone in or near Lehi, Utah. While the job does require coming into the office periodically, it is primarily a work-from-home position.

You will be responsible for:

  • Planning events: manage scheduling, venue, budget, find sponsors, etc.
  • Researching and compiling lists of potential funding sources, including researching foundation databases, community leaders, local franchises, and corporate sponsors.
  • Sending emails to mid-low donors asking for support
  • Helping with miscellaneous development tasks
  • Cleaning up the contact database and update addresses for returned mail
  • Running local errands to the mail shop or post office as needed
  • Assembling mail/packages when we have a project to get out the door

You will bring to the role your:

  • High level of organizational detail
  • Clear communication skills
  • Sales or related experience making direct asks to customers or clients

This is a part-time, flexible position. Hourly pay is $15/hour.

Privacy Policy Analyst

The Libertas Institute is seeking a motivated person to expand its tech and innovation research portfolio and increase its impact in Utah and across the country.

Libertas Institute is an award-winning think tank in Utah with an 85% track record seeing its recommendations become law. We are exporting our policy victories to other states, and operate projects such as the acclaimed Tuttle Twins children’s books that are read by millions of people throughout the world.

You will be responsible for:

  • Expanding Libertas’s technology and innovation policy research in the following areas: data privacy, encryption, artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, and more.
  • Conducting in-depth research to produce policy briefs, whitepapers, and legislative summaries.
  • Following and compile outside research for use in op-eds, videos, one-pagers, press releases, and interviews that inform and persuade.
  • Supporting outreach efforts to communicate Libertas’s policy portfolio to other groups and partners.

You will bring to the role your:

  • Minimum 2–3 years’ experience in policy research (or related work, such as practicing law in this area). Internships count as experience.
  • Policy savvy and an ability to navigate diverse, nuanced ideologies. Libertas engages with individuals who hold a wide variety of beliefs.
  • Excellent oral and written skills.
  • An entrepreneurial, collaborative mindset.
  • A firm belief in individual liberty.
  • Ability to travel occasionally to conferences and policy events.

This is a full-time, in-office position in Lehi, Utah.
