Grants Officer

Libertas Institute is seeking an entrepreneurial grants officer to cultivate new relationships with aligned philanthropic foundations. A primary focus will be capitalizing on the recent national expansion of our Children’s Entrepreneur Market, finding and securing new funding and grants for this program in target states as well as other projects as needed.This is a full-time position either in our Lehi office (hybrid) or remote. You will report to our Executive Vice President.

Performance Expectations

  • Managing your own portfolio of foundations and granting organizations
  • Writing engaging grant proposals and LOIs
  • Tracking and reporting on measurables from a wide variety of grants Libertas has received
  • Producing reports on impact and outcomes for past grantees
  • Locating and approaching state-based and local foundations who would take a keen interest in our newly expanded Children’s Entrepreneur Market
  • Attending periodic virtual and on-site meetings with potential and existing foundations
  • Gaining a well-rounded knowledge of all the policy reforms and education initiatives that Libertas engages in
  • Infrequent travel required (approximately 3%) for meetings and professional development

Requirements

  • 1+ years experience in fundraising
  • 3+ years experience writing professionally
  • Philosophical alignment with and passion for the mission of Libertas Institute
  • Efficient, persuasive, and of a high standard

Expectations

The following outlines the anticipated responsibilities for the Grants Officer during their initial year of employment:

30 Days:

  • Familiarize yourself with our organization, our various projects (in particular the Children’s Entrepreneur Market), and our current foundations work
  • Identify and research 50 new foundations

90 Days:

  • Identify and research a total of 200 new foundations
  • Send out 25 LOIs

1 Year:

  • Secure $500,000 in new grants

Privacy Policy Analyst

Libertas Institute is an award-winning think tank in Utah with an 86% track record seeing its recommendations become law. We are exporting our policy victories to other states, and operate projects such as the acclaimed Tuttle Twins children’s books that are read by millions of people throughout the world.

The Libertas Institute is seeking a motivated person to expand its privacy research portfolio to increase its impact in Utah and across the country.

This position is full-time in-office in Lehi, Utah (work in office 2-3 days a week minimum), though we are open to considering remote candidates.

You will be responsible for:

  • Expanding Libertas’s privacy policy research in the following areas: Fourth Amendment protections, dismantling the Third Party Doctrine, government use of biometric data, government use of surveillance technology
  • Conducting in-depth research to produce policy briefs, legislative summaries, and writing to be submitted to academic publications
  • Following and compiling outside research for use in op-eds, videos, one-pagers, press releases, and interviews that inform and persuade
  • Supporting outreach efforts to communicate Libertas’s policy portfolio to other groups and partners
  • Directing the efforts of our Privacy Scholar Network and organizing periodic events to showcase the scholars

You will bring to the role your:

  • Minimum 2–3 years’ experience in privacy policy research (or related work, such as practicing/studying law in the privacy space). Internships count as experience
  • Policy savvy and an ability to navigate diverse, nuanced ideologies. Libertas engages with individuals who hold a wide variety of beliefs
  • Excellent oral and written skills
  • An entrepreneurial, collaborative mindset
  • A firm belief in individual liberty

  • A law degree is preferred, but not required

  • Publish articles regularly on our site
  • Integrate with your fellow policy team members, national government affairs teams advocating for privacy reforms in other states, and the members of the Privacy Scholar Network

6 months:

  • Publish a policy brief
  • Oversee the publishing of at least a half dozen papers from the Privacy Scholar Network
  • Begin offering policy solutions that can be advocated in Utah (and eventually around the country)

1 Year:

  • Organize and execute a privacy symposium
  • Publish in an academic journal
  • Help our government affairs team pass several privacy reforms in Utah

Criminal Justice Policy Analyst

Libertas Institute is seeking a motivated person to oversee its criminal justice research portfolio to increase its impact in Utah and across the country.

This position is full-time in-office in Lehi, Utah (work in office 2 days a week minimum).

You will be responsible for:

  • Focusing Libertas’s criminal justice policy research on over-criminalization and its effects: decriminalizing mental illness, expungement, sentencing reform/reduction, reintroduction into society
  • Conducting in-depth research and data studies to produce policy briefs, legislative summaries, and writing to be submitted to academic publications.
  • Following and compiling outside research for use in op-eds, videos, one-pagers, press releases, and interviews that inform and persuade.
  • Supporting outreach efforts to communicate Libertas’s policy portfolio to other groups and partners.
  • Collaborating with partners, stakeholders, and legislators to bring policy reform proposals to the Utah Legislature

You will bring to the role your:

  • Masters of Criminology or related degree preferred, but not required
  • Minimum 1–2 years experience in policy research (or related work, such as working for a prosecutor’s or public defender’s office). Internships count as experience.
  • Policy savvy and an ability to navigate diverse, nuanced ideologies. Libertas engages with individuals who hold a wide variety of beliefs.

Social Media Manager, Tuttle Twins & Libertas

We are seeking a seasoned and dynamic Social Media Manager for a full-time remote or in-person position. The ideal candidate should be deeply aligned with the work of Tuttle Twins and Libertas Institute, and passionate about educating and engaging others about the ideas of freedom.

This pivotal role encompasses managing the social media presence for both our youth education (Tuttle Twins) and policy reform efforts (Libertas Institute). The ideal candidate will be proficient in managing multiple social media channels, crafting engaging content (Reels/TikTok videos, memes, etc.), cultivating active community interactions, and sparking our social media presence to better connect with and provide value to our community.

You will be responsible to:

  • Post engaging content 3x or more per day, including stories, on various social media channels
  • Develop and manage a social content calendar and posting schedule that supports brand initiatives, utilizing on-brand assets and maintaining a consistent brand voice
  • Develop creative campaigns and engaging content (videos, memes, graphics, photos, etc.) to reach target audiences who value individual freedoms and business principles
  • Monitor trends and stay up to date with social media tools, applications, channels, design, and strategy
  • Analyze data, including impressions, engagements, and clicks, among other KPIs, to draw actionable insights and recommendations for optimizing results
  • Capture real-time storytelling opportunities aligned with our brand and current events or cultural moments
  • Develop best practices and standards to strategically scale our social media presence while staying informed about industry developments, creative trends, and culturally relevant moments
  • Identify opportunities in user-generated content surrounding the company
  • Manage and communicate with affiliates and influencers
  • Collaborate with other teams to integrate and amplify all communications, including press releases, events, promotions, and project milestones
  • Ensure brand consistency by overseeing the design of social media accounts, including cover photos, profile pictures, and blog layout
  • Suggest and implement new features to develop brand awareness, such as promotions, giveaways, competitions, etc
  • Stay up-to-date with current technologies and trends in social media, design tools, and applications

You will bring to the role your:

  • 3+ years of content marketing, social media, or relevant digital marketing experience
  • Direct operational expertise in Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, YouTube, TikTok, etc
  • Strong understanding of the social media landscape, including platform demographics, trends, and emerging opportunities, to drive social engagement and improve results
  • Passion for consumer engagement within social channels
  • Self-motivation and effective work ethic in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple projects and adhering to deadlines
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to contribute in a collaborative team environment
  • Impeccable communication, grammar, and writing/editing skills
  • Solid knowledge of SEO, keyword research, and Google Analytics
