Community Engagement Specialist (Contract)

Location: 2183 W. Main Street, A102, Lehi, UT 84043

Hours: 15-30 hours per week

Job Type: Hybrid, Hourly, $25 an hour

Overview: We are seeking a reliable and personable Community Engagement Specialist to join our team on a contract basis. The successful candidate will be capable of making friends with a brick wall and be highly organized. This position offers an opportunity to work flexible hours while making a tangible difference in our local community.

Responsibilities:

  • Host/assist in listening sessions, focus groups, and working groups
  • Serve as team liaison for policy heroes and coalitions
  • Own relationships and storytelling for policy heroes
  • Plan outreach events and partnership events
  • “Hand-holding” for plaintiffs/heroes in legal cases or legislative testimony

Requirements:

  • Very personable. Can be friends with a brick wall.
  • Professional but friendly. A good ambassador for the organization.
  • Highly organized. CE has a lot of balls in the air at the same time.
  • Innovative. Think of ways to make something happen when you hit a wall. And when dealing with people, that happens a lot.
  • Team player. CE has to work with all the teams in your organization.
  • An understanding of each facet of the organization so you know who to direct your heroes to depending on their given need

Privacy Policy Analyst

Libertas Institute is an award-winning think tank in Utah with an 86% track record seeing its recommendations become law. We are exporting our policy victories to other states, and operate projects such as the acclaimed Tuttle Twins children’s books that are read by millions of people throughout the world.

The Libertas Institute is seeking a motivated person to expand its privacy research portfolio to increase its impact in Utah and across the country.

This position is full-time in-office in Lehi, Utah (work in office 2-3 days a week minimum), though we are open to considering remote candidates.

You will be responsible for:

  • Expanding Libertas’s privacy policy research in the following areas: Fourth Amendment protections, dismantling the Third Party Doctrine, government use of biometric data, government use of surveillance technology
  • Conducting in-depth research to produce policy briefs, legislative summaries, and writing to be submitted to academic publications
  • Following and compiling outside research for use in op-eds, videos, one-pagers, press releases, and interviews that inform and persuade
  • Supporting outreach efforts to communicate Libertas’s policy portfolio to other groups and partners
  • Directing the efforts of our Privacy Scholar Network and organizing periodic events to showcase the scholars

You will bring to the role your:

  • Minimum 2–3 years’ experience in privacy policy research (or related work, such as practicing/studying law in the privacy space). Internships count as experience
  • Policy savvy and an ability to navigate diverse, nuanced ideologies. Libertas engages with individuals who hold a wide variety of beliefs
  • Excellent oral and written skills
  • An entrepreneurial, collaborative mindset
  • A firm belief in individual liberty
  • Ability to travel occasionally to conferences and policy events
  • A law degree is preferred, but not required

What success looks like in this role:

90 days:

  • Establish and begin building a following on social media and other outlets as a leading voice on government data privacy in the US
  • Publish articles regularly on our site
  • Integrate with your fellow policy team members, national government affairs teams advocating for privacy reforms in other states, and the members of the Privacy Scholar Network

6 months:

  • Publish a policy brief
  • Oversee the publishing of at least a half dozen papers from the Privacy Scholar Network
  • Begin offering policy solutions that can be advocated in Utah (and eventually around the country)

1 Year:

  • Organize and execute a privacy symposium
  • Publish in an academic journal
  • Help our government affairs team pass several privacy reforms in Utah

Criminal Justice Policy Analyst

Libertas Institute is seeking a motivated person to oversee its criminal justice research portfolio to increase its impact in Utah and across the country.

This position is full-time in-office in Lehi, Utah (work in office 2 days a week minimum).

You will be responsible for:

  • Focusing Libertas’s criminal justice policy research on over-criminalization and its effects: decriminalizing mental illness, expungement, sentencing reform/reduction, reintroduction into society
  • Conducting in-depth research and data studies to produce policy briefs, legislative summaries, and writing to be submitted to academic publications.
  • Following and compiling outside research for use in op-eds, videos, one-pagers, press releases, and interviews that inform and persuade.
  • Supporting outreach efforts to communicate Libertas’s policy portfolio to other groups and partners.
  • Collaborating with partners, stakeholders, and legislators to bring policy reform proposals to the Utah Legislature

You will bring to the role your:

  • Masters of Criminology or related degree preferred, but not required
  • Minimum 1–2 years experience in policy research (or related work, such as working for a prosecutor’s or public defender’s office). Internships count as experience.
  • Policy savvy and an ability to navigate diverse, nuanced ideologies. Libertas engages with individuals who hold a wide variety of beliefs.
  • Excellent oral and written skills.

Part-Time Tuttle Twins Fulfillment Warehouse Associate

Location: 659 N Saratoga Rd., Saratoga Springs, UT

Hours: 15-20 hours a week, up to 30 hours per week, primarily between 9:00 AM to 3:30 PM

Job Type: Part-Time, Hourly, $15 an hour

Overview: We are seeking a reliable and detail-oriented individual to join our Tuttle Twins team part-time as a Book Fulfillment Warehouse Associate. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in ensuring the accurate and efficient processing of book orders in our warehouse facility. This position offers an opportunity to work flexible hours while contributing to the fulfillment of customer orders in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Order Processing: Accurately pick, pack, and ship book orders according to company standards and procedures.
  • Inventory Management: Assist in maintaining organized inventory shelves, replenishing stock as needed, and conducting periodic inventory counts.
  • Quality Control: Inspect books for damages, defects, or discrepancies before packaging and shipping.
  • Shipping and Receiving: Prepare shipping labels, arrange shipments with carriers, and receive incoming shipments, verifying quantities and items against packing lists.
  • Warehouse Organization: Maintain cleanliness and organization in the warehouse to ensure a safe and efficient working environment.
  • Documentation: Complete necessary paperwork and documentation related to order processing, inventory management, and shipping/receiving activities.
  • Compliance: Adhere to all safety guidelines, company policies, and procedures to ensure compliance with industry regulations and standards.

Requirements:

  • Willing attitude and proactive work ethic.
